Ukraine

People in Need has a long-lasting presence in Ukraine starting from 2003 and was in position to provide immediate humanitarian assistance after the onset of the conflict in August 2014. PIN has been implementing a broad range of emergency food, non-food items, shelter, protection, livelihoods, WASH, medical and cash-based interventions along the two sides of the frontline in eastern Ukraine, both in the government and non-government controlled areas (GCA and NGCA).

PIN’s early focus was on providing emergency assistance, but in 2016, the organization launched new initiatives–particularly in the Protection and Livelihoods sectors–which are aimed to support Ukraine’s transition from emergency to early recovery and development.

In May 2017, People in Need together with three other international organizations including Médecins du Monde (MDM) and ACTED in partnership with IMPACT Initiatives, Help Age International and national organization Right to Protection (R2P) launched the ACCESS project to ensure coordinated multisectoral humanitarian assistance for conflict-affected populations in eastern Ukraine.
